  • Are tables and chairs available and included in the booking price?

Yes, chairs and trestle tables can be laid out to your preferred floor plan. The hirer is responsible for setting them out and must tidy them away following the instructions provided, after the event. Tables and chairs must not block the fire exits or fire-fighting equipment.

  • Where are the tables and chairs stored?

The chairs are found in the individual rooms. In addition, there is one large table for the Colman hall, one smaller table in the JNA hall and one table in the Meeting room.

There are 2 trolleys with tables:

In the foyer near the JNA hall: 7 small tables, dimensions; 152cm x 68cm.

In the recess near the Colman hall: 9 tables, dimensions; 182cm x 68cm and 3 tables with dimensions above.

Please request extra tables at the time of booking to ensure their availability.

  • Can we have a disco or live band?

Yes, Children’s discos are permitted (up to age 11), with music ending before 8.30pm on Saturdays, and 6.00pm on Sundays.

  • Can I have my teenager’s party at the Colman Redland Community Centre?

Sorry, we do not permit teenagers parties at the Colman Redland Centre due to problems that have occurred during previous hires.

  • Can we have alcohol at our event?

Yes, alcohol is permitted but only on a ‘bring your own’ basis: it cannot be sold (or included in the entry price of an event). To sell alcohol at an event you must first apply for a temporary license to Reigate & Banstead BC. Such applications MUST be made in conjunction with the permission of the Bookings Secretary prior to booking the Hall. Please also see hire regulations.

  • I am running a charity event, is there any discount or chance I can have the hall for free?

We are sorry we are unable to offer facilities free of charge as we are a Charitable Trust and have high overheads: however, we do have charity rates, so please mention this in your enquiry and provide details of the charity..

  • Can I bring in Helium balloons?

Helium balloons are permitted but they MUST be weighted/tied down so that they do not escape to the high ceiling of the halls. Please take your helium balloons home.

The heating in the Colman hall is located under the roof, and both halls are fitted with a smoke/fire detectors. Released balloons could potentially set the alarms off requiring attendance from the emergency services. Released balloons will result in a loss of your deposit as a ‘tower’ needs to be erected to remove the balloon.

  • Can I have a smoke machine?

Unfortunately, fire and smoke alarms are very sensitive and detect heat as well as smoke. Smoke machines will set off the alarms and are therefore are not to be used. If a detector sounds, it will continue to sound until someone can get to the venue to disable the alarm.

  • Are the grounds available for hire?

The grounds are NOT included in your hall hire and cannot be used.
